Nanoethics 310 (Fall 2012)
Instruction: PhD and Bachelor level courses/modules
The course/modules are very interactive with a lot of work in small groups. The participants are encouraged to actively participate with their own opinions and points of view in the discussions. The course/modules provides an introduction into the societal, environmental and ethical aspects of nano-science and nanotechnology, including:
What is nano-science, given the field’s interdisciplinary character?
The future of nanotechnology: What is possible and what is desired?
What are the most important ethical and societal issues seen from the perspective of the researcher working within the nano-science field?
Nanotechnology’s influence on the relations between humankind/nature; and the divide between the rich and the poor.
How to evaluate and manage the risks and uncertainties related to the environment and health in light of nanotechnology.
The interplay between nano-science, nanotechnology, the politics of science and society.
