Centre for Continuing Education (SEVU)
The Centre for Continuing Education (SEVU) is a central administrative unit at the Division of Academic Affairs.
SEVU is responsible for developing and operating/running the University of Bergen’s (UiB’s) life long learning provision (extension studies, continuing education, professional development, adult education, open and distance education, part time studies).
UiB’s great knowledge and competence within several subject fields are to be made more easily and broadly accessible to and adapted for life long adult learners. Various academic departments and their faculty staff are responsible for the content and teaching while SEVU is responsible for the administration and act as a coordinating service unit internally as well as externally. SEVU is an operator that organise and design courses adapted to adult students practically, pedagogically and economically.
SEVU is a link and contact point between on the one hand companies, private and public institutions/offices and individuals, and UiB departments and academic staff on the other. SEVU can also contribute in the process of tailoring courses for specific groups of learners e.g. in companies.

Commissioned, customised education
UiB offers specially adapted competence development programmes in cooperation with private and public undertakings and organisations. The Centre for Continuing Education is the point of contact and coordinator for work on commissioned education and is also quite happy to take on the functions of project manager, process manager and administrator.
