The quality assurance system was established to maintain and further develop the quality of study programmes so that it

  • is apparent to the students,
  • satisfies recognised academic goals, and
  • makes the study programmes socially relevant in a wider sense

The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) stipulates in its regulations what a quality assurance system must include. After an expert evaluation, the University of Bergen’s quality assurance system received NOKUT approval on 29 March 2007.

NOKUT is also responsible for expert evaluation/reaccredidation of study programmes.

The quality assurance system is described on a separate portal.

The Division of Student Affairs’s Section for Education Development and Evaluation  maintains the quality assurance system, operates several of the processes and deals with matters that concern the quality assurance of education.
