Borrowing
The University Library lends books and other documents from its collections for study and research purposes.
Where to Find the Literature
The University Library holds comprehensive collections of books, journals, and other printed materials. The literature within the various disciplines is located at the branch libraries. You will find information on the location of documents in our BIBSYS ASK OPAC .
Library User Card
- Students and staff at the University of Bergen use their student card or employee card as library cards.
- For other users a library card can be issued at one of the branch libraries. New users will be asked to show identification. The library card can be used at all branch libraries, and may also be registered as a national library card.
Loan Period / Photocopies
The ordinary loan period is four weeks. Printed periodicals are normally for in-library-use only, but copy machines for making your own photocopies of articles at a service charge are available at most branch libraries.
Interlibrary Loans
If a student or University employee wants to borrow literature not owned by the University Library, the material can be requested from other libraries in Norway or abroad. This can be done through the BIBSYS OPAC or by contacting library staff.
