Organisation
The administration of the University Museum of Bergen provide joint services to the rest of the museum sections and units within areas of organisation and administration, report and development work, personnel management, financial management and other administrative support services, and also on health, safety and environmental work.
The following units are administratively placed under the museum administration:
Photographic Services, IT Support Services, Section for Cultural Heritage Management and Public Outreach Section
The museum director is in charge of the day-to-day management of University Museum of Bergen.

The Board
The Board is the decisive unit in the museum which in the UiB organisation has status as a faculty

History
Bergens Museum was founded in 1825 by Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie (1778-1849), a county court judge and a former President of the Norwegian Parliament. Today the name of the museum is University Museum of Bergen.

Photographic Services
The unit takes photographs of both objects in the collections and other official photographs. Photographing on behalf of the Museum is also part of the unit’s tasks.

The Public Outreach Section
The Public Outreach Section aims to ensure that the University Museum of Bergen at all times reach as broad an audience as possible by organising for visitors’ access to the museum, and by various educational and outreach activities.

IT Support Services
The tasks are linked to all parts of ICT and AV issues related to the museum’s work. The aim is to have a reliable and efficient operation of the Museum’s ICT services. In addition, the unit offer assistance on how to choose and buy ICT and AV equipment for the museum.
