Botanical collections
Within the field of botany extensive scientific collections are held. The collections consist of Herbarium BG and paleobotanical collections. The Living Collections are located in the Museum Garden and in the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Milde. The collections are accessible for research purposes.
Herbarium BG and the paleobotanical collections are housed at the Department of biology, the Science Building, Allégt. 41.

Herbarium BG
Herbarium BG has a total of 780 000 herbarium sheets. They are the result of more than 100 years of collecting in connection with flora mapping, main subject and doctoral theses, research projects and management surveys.

The paleobotanical collections
The paleobotanical collections comprise plant material that gives information about the vegetation of the past. The collections consist mainly of sediment cores from water, peat marshes and soil samples from archaeological excavations.
