The pilot study

• The pilot study is part of a larger investigation of teenage slang, which will be carried out in the Nordic countries.
• The pilot study in Finland was carried out in Helsinki during January-February 1997 by Mirja Saari and Anne-Marie Londen. The questionaires were handed out in two classes in their 9th school year and one class in their 11th school year.

• The main slang study in Finland was carried out during fall 1997 in:
• Helsinki, Mariehamn and Vasa in Swedish
• Helsinki, Kuopio, and Tammerfors in Finnish
