UiB Alumni invites you to the Network Seminar in Brussels 7 March at Science 14 in the heart of the EU district. We hope you will take the time to visit us and meet alumni, friends and partners of UiB. The programme contains interesting alumni from the Brussels area and we are happy to introduce professor Cecilie Svanes at the Centre for International Health at the University of Bergen and Jakob Grandin,PhD Candidate, convener UiB Collaboratory, Department of Geography.

Cecilie Svanes has been a member of the Steering Committee of the European Community Respiratory Health Study since 1997, and has led the related generation study RHINESSA since 2011. Svanes will give examples on how her research have impact on industry design, public opinion and policymaking on the use of cleansing agents.

Mr Jakob Grandin, is PhD Candidate at UiB’s Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation (CET) and will give an insight into how his work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) made him co-arranger of a workshop at the high-level political forum in the UN in July 2018. Mr Grandin has long been an advocate for critical engagement with the SDGs, and is one of the co-founders of the Collaboratory, an innovative initiative focussing on students and interdisciplinarity. Through his various activities, Mr Grandin shows how science can be used to inform foreign policy objectives and to communicate and promote peace and sustainable development by building global partnerships.
