New in NORHED II

NORHED II is divided into sub-programmes. In NORHED II, a sub-programme for energy is included. In the las period, energy was a separate programme, EnPe, which is now integrated in NORHED II.

Sub-programmes:

  • Education and Training
  • Health
  • Climate Change and Natural Resources
  • Political and Economic Governance
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Energy

Norwegian higher education institution is responsible for coordinating the project

Compared to the first NORHED programme period, where the Southern partners were responsible for coordinating the project, the responsibility lies with the Norwegian higher education institutions in NORHED II.

Additionally, Norwegian institutions with more than one project will have one contact point with Norad, which will be responsible for all NORHED II projects at the institution.

Budget frame and project time frame

The project period is 2021-2026.

Projects will have a tentative total budget frame of 10-20 million NOK.

Proposals may be for either a three-year or six-year project period.

For applications covering a six-year period, expected total budgets could be between 15-20 million NOK. For applications covering a three-year period, expected total budgets could be around 10 million NOK.

Geographical priorities

Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Malawi, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.

Norway also gives priority to other Least Developed Countries (LDC) in Sub-Saharan Africa. Regional South-South collaboration is strongly encouraged.

Norad encourages South-South collaboration.

Application process

The Norwegian higher education institution must apply, and will have the main responsibility for the application and application process. Applications must be submitted electronically and in English through the Grants Portal.

Application deadline: 26 June, 13:00 CET.
