Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy is designed to support the transition to a reliable, sustainable and competitive energy system.


Main priority areas under the Energy Challenge

The calls for proposals issued under the first work programme (2014–2015) focused on three main priority areas:

  • Energy efficiencyIncluding district heating and building design, materials and components as well as development and demonstration by SMEs of energy-efficient products, services and processes.
  • Competitive low-carbon energyIncluding development of next-generation sustainable technologies for renewable electricity, heating and cooling, smart grids and storage.
  • Smart cities and communitiesIncluding large-scale demonstration projects (lighthouse projects) that integrate technologies and innovative solutions for energy, ICT and transport.
