Mål og innhald

his is a project-based module with a focus on specific artistic methods. In an experimental process a given MATERIALITY (clay) is explored.

Presentations and discussions form the discursive part of this emne and each student investigates materials, structures and/or form, leading up to individual and/or group presentations of the resulting artwork(s).

Through the development of an individual and/or a group project the student will acquire experimental techniques and experience of how malleable matter might be experienced and shaped.

Goal:

Extended focus and insight into contemporary art and its use of materiality and sensorial experience. In addition to concept and process development, the course will look at strategies, methods and techniques working with small to larger scale sculptures in clay or ceramics. By clays limits, students will gain a freedom when continuing with the material after the workshop.

The group will work together, or alongside each other, observing others processes and development closely.

The combination of different projects developing alongside one another creates a condensed focus for sharing and a platform for discussion, learning, mutual help and benefit.

Depending on needs and wishes of participants different techniques and processes in hand building, modelling, moulding, drying, glazing and firing strategies will be investigated.
