Mål og innhald
The course provides an overview of the history of Protestant Reformation in Europe, with a focus on selected regions (East-Central Europe, the Nordic countries), processes (denomination-building, Counter-Reformation) and concepts (confessionalization, social discipline, ethno-denominational communities). The course also offers an introduction into the various approaches and currents in Reformation historiography. See description of the topic here.
A general knowledge of European Reformation history, with a focus on the regions mentioned above; a general knowledge of central processes and concepts connected to the Reformation; a general knowledge of major currents in Reformation historiography
The capability of analyzing and drawing conclusions of one¿s own in connection with complex themes, and the capability of producing a text in accordance with the relevant rules for academic writing.
The ability of working with larger amounts of material within a limited time period, and the ability of synthesizing and presenting it.

The course is open to all students matriculated at the University of Bergen.
Arbeids- og undervisningsformer
Approximately 10 lectures (20 hours)
Take-home examination (5 days) of approximately 3000 words
A graded scale A ¿ F, where A is the top grade and F is the failing grade.
