Tor Halvorsen and colleagues with book on UNs sustainable development goals.
Associate Professor Tor Halvorsen has, together with colleagues from southern Africa and the Nordic regions, published the book “Knowledge for Justice: Critical Perspectives from Southern African-Nordic Research Partnerships”. The book evaluates the UNs sustainable development goals and the Paris Agreement, where the authors argue for the importance of knowledge as a driver for social, environmental and economic justice at local, national, regional and global levels.
In the book’s three parts they examine obstacles that neo-liberal hegemony presents to substantive transformation; lessons learned from North–South research collaborations and academic exchanges; case studies to analyze the scale of the challenges faced. The publication is tied to the Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD), which is a multilateral academic cooperation in research and education between the Nordics and southern Africa.
