Digital Era Collaboration – Final Event for the TROPICO project
How to make digitalisation work? What can be done to successfully involve citizens in policy design processes? In what ways can we create innovation by involving different actors in service delivery? How to assess the legitimacy and efficiency of collaborations? What is the impact of the TROPICO project in terms of research and what are the steps forward?

The Horizon 2020 project TROPICO (Transforming into Open, Innovative and Collaborative Governments) will propose answers for these questions during its Final Event: Digital Era Collaboration. Join online on 15th & 16th of November 2021 to celebrate 4,5 years of the project research. Registration is already open!
The event will consist of five independent one-hour sessions focusing on different aspects of collaboration and digitalisation. It will combine many formats, including a debate, an interactive workshop, roundtables, open discussions, and experience-sharing, to enable the participants to learn more about the topics in question in an inspiring and interactive setting.
The opening session will start with a keynote speech by Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of Taiwan.
The five online sessions will center around the following themes:
15th of November, 10:30-11:30 (CET) - Central or decentralised organisation – how to make digitalisation work?
Debate on contrasting approaches on the organisation of government digitalisation: centralised (coordinated by one assigned actor, e.g., ministry or agency), and decentralised (where different governmental units are in charge of different digitalisation-related processes) followed by a Q&A.
15th of November, 14:00-15:00 (CET) - Involving citizens in policy design processes
Interactive session exploring how e-participation initiatives can be organised to not only inform and consult citizens, but also involve them in collaboration and policy-making.
16th of November, 10:00-11:00 (CET) - Involving the private sector in processes of public service innovation
Presentation of TROPICO research results and panel discussion with practitioners representing different sectors (government, non-profit, for-profit), and revolving around the question of how to create and implement public service innovation through public-private collaboration.
16th of November, 11:00-12:00 (CET) - Assessing the efficiency and legitimacy of collaborations – what we know and what comes next
Discussion on the question of how to assess efficiency and legitimacy of collaborative arrangements in service delivery. It will present the aim and the results of the Collaboration Monitor, an online self-assessment tool developed by TROPICO.
16th of November, 14:00-15:00 (CET) - Understanding the transformation of public administrations: research, achievements, and perspectives
Session exploring the impact of the TROPICO project in terms of research.
