Arqus Action Lines

From Inclusion and Diversity to Research Support - each Arqus University is responsible for a specific Action Line.

Widening Access, Inclusion and Diversity

Action Line 2 is coordinated by the Inclusion Board, chaired by the University of Padova, and has the following objectives:

  1. Increasing inclusion (widening access and diversity) within universities
  2. Increasing the awareness of the local and regional environment about different forms of disparity, under-represented groups, diversity and inclusion
  3. Influencing inclusive policies on a regional and national level

Student-centred Frameworks for Quality Learning

Action Line 3 is coordinated by the Quality Learning Board, chaired by Vilnius University, and has the following objectives:

  1. Enabling staff and students via innovative teaching
  2. Fostering student-centred/research-based learning through joint/flexible curricula
  3. Enhancing the development of mobility and recognition

Multilingual & Multicultural University

Action Line 4 is coordinated by the Multilingualism Board, chaired by Leipzig University, and has the following objectives:

  1. Ensuring that students and instructors have the language proficiency and cultural competence they need for their studies and future professional activities
  2. Ensuring that subject-specific and language learning go hand in hand
  3. Promoting multilingualism and multiculturalism in university programmes, academic discourses and administration + the use of inclusive and non-discriminatory language

Entrepreneurial University and Regional Engagement

Action Line 5 is coordinated by the Entrepreneurship Board, chaired by the University of Lyon, and has the following objectives:

  1. Stimulating entrepreneurial mind-set and creativity
  2. Reinforcing regional engagement
  3. Building on complementary strengths and cross-cultural collaborations

Research Support and Early Stage Researcher Development

Action Line 6 is coordinated by the Research Board, chaired by the University of Graz, and has the following objectives:

  1. Sharing best practice in research management and support
  2. Studying the feasibility of sharing resources
  3. Promoting joint doctoral initiatives and promoting shared opportunities

UiB's Action Line - Engaged European Citizens

Action Line 7 is coordinated by the European Citizenship Board, chaired by the University of Bergen, and has the following objectives:

  1. Developing and disseminating novel models of active European citizenship whereby students engage with contemporary global thematic challenges and work together across national borders to address them
  2. Developing and piloting a process for cultivating Arqus knowledge creating teams to engage with thematic challenges
  3. Strengthening students’ transferable skills through education and capacity-building
  4. Developing, piloting and disseminating innovative models for multidisciplinary, student-led education across the Alliance and beyond
