ERC consolidator grant to Thomas Arnesen
Thomas Arnesen is one of five Norwegian researchers who will receive a prestigious consolidator grant from the European Research Council in 2017.
Arnesen leads an international research team that has moved to the Department of Biomedicine in Fall 2017. Their work focusses on enzymes that perform post-translational modifications, namely N-terminal acetylation. This is a process that influences protein levels, function and localisation in the cells, and also affects hormonal regulation and cancer.
The title of the ERC-praised project is fittingly "Discovery and functional significance of posttranslational N-terminal acetylation". The European Reseach Council will now support this project with around two million Euro for up to five years.
