How to welcome the new era of public research data?
Department of Biomedicine, and Computational Biology Unit (CBU), Department of Informatics, University of Bergen
It should not come as a surprise that we are moving towards a new standard in which it will become the norm that research data are shared publicly. However, most of the discussions on this topic tend to either focus on the technical details on how to share the data or on how to set up the administrative framework required to enforce that such sharing is in fact taking place, especially for projects based on external funding. In this talk I will instead highlight the advantages of data sharing and try to convince you that the benefits far outweigh the perceived disadvantages. Thus hopefully resulting in a warm welcome to the new era of public research data.
