Main content

The primary objective of CDN is to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of the aesthetic and societal effects of new forms of digital narrative operating in assemblage with computational systems and algorithms.

Secondary objectives:

  • To contextualize impacts of algorithmic narrativity on new narrative forms and develop a theoretical framework for their analysis.
  • To analyze the effects of digital materialities and storytelling environments on readers, viewers, listeners, and players interacting with digital narratives and produce experiments that result in studies of those effects.
  • To produce an analysis of the cultural contexts of digital narratives to establish how digital narratives are both functioning in societal contexts and framing human communication and develop recommendations on their future use.
  • To extensively develop a database of key works of genres of digital narrative and establish a historical framework for understanding emerging forms.
