Main content

'Uår' is a short documentary which tells a personal story about food production in the time of the climate crisis. In this film, we get to know the drought stricken Norwegian dairy farmer Einar, who after the most difficult year of his life in 2018 travels to Malawi in East Africa. In Malawi he meets with farmers who have been living with the consequences of climate change for more than a decade. What do they do to be able to continue growing food? How do they keep their spirit up in times of crisis? And what can a farmer from Norway learn from Malawian smallholder farmers?

Before the screening, Jan Thomas Odegard, director of Utviklingsfondet, will give a short introduction to Utviklingsfondet's work with climate adaptation in developing countries. After the film there will be a discussion around adaptation to climate change in the agricultural sector, both globally and in Norway.

Utviklingsfondet has for over 40 years worked with supporting small scale farmers in rural areas in development countries, promoting sustainable and climate adapted agriculture as a means for development.

‘Uår’ is an independent documentary produced by Differ Media. It has received funds from Norad, Fritt Ord, Utviklingsfondet and Økologisk Norge.
