Research Groups at CIH

Over the period from 1988 CIH has developed from a small research centre to one of the leading institutions in Norway, with a strong national and international network.

Main content

The CIH was established in 1988 as an interfaculty centre. From its inception and establishment, the centre has been tasked to work with collaborators from different fields and faculties. Most research projects are planned and implemented by interdisciplinary teams. A researcher at CIH can be a member of several research groups at UiB and partners. The Global Health Anthropology research group is an interdisciplinary group applying critical social science theory and methodology to the study of global health care policy and programmes and their impact on patient and health worker experiences in high and low welfare settings.

Tuberculosis Research Group

Tuberculosis (TB), one of the oldest known human diseases, is still one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality globally. Over 90% of TB cases occur in low- and middle-income countries that have fragile healthcare infrastructures and constrained resources.
