CONFECT – viral ecology and evolution

Main content

In 2025, CONFECT organizes a summer school to equip students with a tool-box of diverse knowledge and skills that enables them to think broadly and creatively about effects of virus-host interactions on ecosystem functioning, allowing them to formulate relevant research questions for future projects.

The summer school will focus on theory within virus ecology and evolution and hands-on exercises in mathematical and individual based modelling (UiB, UMB, UoT, AS,) and bioinformatics analyses of genomic and metagenomic datasets (UiB). Additionally, students will engage in a large-scale experiment at UiB’s mesocosm facility and gain practical skills in classical and novel techniques for measurements of virus-host interactions and environmental parameters.
