Online teaching and examinations for the rest of the semester at UiB

Here you get an overview of how the new corona measures affect you as a student.

Strict measures implemented in Bergen to stop the spread of coronavirus. Both home office and digital teaching are mandatory. With few exceptions, the measures will apply to all students and employees.

On November 23, Bergen municipality informed that the temporary local corona measures will be extended for two more weeks. Home office and digitial teaching continues at UiB.

Teaching and examinations

Teaching will take place on digital platforms, with few agreed exceptions, for the rest of the semester. Exceptions from online teaching is teaching that cannot be done digitally, including creative and executive-, laboratory-, equipment-dependent-, field- and clinical teaching. Please check Mitt UiB for updated information on what applies for your study program/course.

Examinations must be conducted from home for the rest of the semester, with the exception of practical exams for executive subjects. Please check Mitt UiB for updated information on what applies for your study program/course.

Do you need access to a student workplace on campus?

As a general rule, students must work from home. The faculty buildings will remain open for students who need to use printers, pick up books etc. If for various reasons you have difficulties studying / complete an examination at home, you can easily register and get access to a student workplace on campus at the one of the faculty libraries, Sydneshaugen skole or Ulrikke Pihls hus.

Are you a master's student? Master's students in need of a workplace on campus, can get access in aggreement with their department/academic environment. Please contact study supervisor/head of administration, and check  Mitt UiB for information.

Opening hours

The faculty libraries - Monday-Friday 10AM to 7PM
Sydneshaugen skole - Monday-Friday, 8.30AM to 8PM
Ulrikke Pihls hus - Monday-Friday, 8.30AM to 8PM 

Students have access to printers at the following libraries/reading room locations: 

The University Library

The University Library is closed until further notice, but have reopened the service Request, pick up (and return) at the door for students and employees. You can contact the University Library via chat from 9.15AM-3.45PM. 

The library's digital services and resources are always open and available. There will be no fees or replacement demands issued and all loans are automatically extended during this period.

Professional practice

Professional practice are carried out for health educations and associate professor/PPU-educations when possible, and for other educations it will be carried out digitally or postponed.

Special needs

If, as a result of the corona situation and the transition to fully digital teaching and examinations, you have further or changed special needs, and need facilitation regarding teaching - please contact your study advisor.
