Course description
Objectives and Content
KIN201 builds on KIN103 and KIN104, with teaching on the intermediate level in and about the Chinese language. The main emphasis is on practical reading, written output and general understanding.
A short period of overseas studies in one or two Chinese universities can be offered. Information will be given in the beginning of the teaching semester and on KIN201¿s course site in Mitt UiB.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student is expected to:
Knowledge
- have acquired a vocabulary and understanding of grammar on the intermediate level
Skills
- master a vocabulary of approx. 800 words connected to the everyday and public spheres, and close to 160 written signs
General competence
- have increased his/her understanding of texts and writing abilities

Teaching and learning methods
Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures and conversation groups: 2 lectures and 2 group sessions weekly over the course of 12 weeks.
The number of teaching weeks in Bergen will be reduced for those participating in the short time study trip to China.
Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
Attending 75 % of the teaching is mandatory. The course comprises 8 obligatory assignments, of which 6 must be approved.
Approval on mandatory assignments is valid only for the semester in which the course was conducted, as well as for the following semester.
