Objectives and Content

Objectives:

Give advanced knowledge and skills in electromagnetism.

 

Content:

The course contains topics such as electric and magnetic fields and potentials; Maxwell's equations; conservation laws; electromagnetic waves in different materials; electromagnetic radiation; relativistic electrodynamics; and mathematical techniques used to solve electromagnetic problems.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes

After completing the course, students should have

  • advanced knowledge of important topics in electromagnetism.

Skills

After completing the course, students should be able to

  • explain advanced electromagnetic concepts and laws
  • solve mathematical complex problems associated with the topics covered by the course

PHYS112 or similar knowledge in electromagnetism

Forms of Assessment
The forms of assessment are:
  • Written examination, 4 hours.
Grading Scale
The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
