Analogue Integrated Circuits

Postgraduate course

Course description

Objectives and Content

The topic covers models and small signal analysis for MOS and bipolar transistors, design of operational amplifiers, including detailed studies of circuits used for such designs. The course is fundamental for further studies in microelectronics, and is also of interest for students in related fields.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Explain and use transistor models valid for sub-micron integrated circuits technology.
  • Design, analyze and simulate elementary building blocks for analog circuit design.
  • Evaluate relevant noise models and be able to carry out noise analysis.
  • Master frequency analysis with the help of pole-zero analysis and Bode diagrams at system level and block level.
  • Design, analyze, optimize and verify/simulate a two-stage amplifier with Miller compensation and a folded-cascode amplifier with active load.

Grading Scale
The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
