In STUDIO (STUDIO), students from Art and Design at KMD will explore studios as physical, social, private and public spaces. The course will involve working in groups and planning a real life public art commission. At least one of the final proposals will be turned into an artwork through a real competition in collaboration with other institutions in the city.

The emne will involve professional practice presentations related to public commissions. The course series is led by the artists Eamon O'Kane and Thomas Pihl from KMD there will be input from artist Sveinung Unneland and architect Espen Folgerø from BAS among others.

Objectives and Content

This is a project-based module with a focus on artistic production as a fluid operation that can take shape in a multitude of spaces, be they physical, conceptual, social, private, public, and so on. Students develop an individual or group project within the module. Relevant techniques, approaches, themes, and histories are introduced through lectures, readings, presentations, tutorials, and/or workshops.
