Objectives and Content
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student is expected to:

- have a basic knowledge of German grammatical terms

- be able to apply basic German academic terms
- be able to use simple tools for syntactical analysis
General competence
- have laid a good foundation for expanding one's own practical and theoretical competence in the German language
- be well equipped to continue one's studies in German on the 100 level

In the period between end of teaching and final exam, there will be a voluntary study trip to Kiel. The trip lasts for three weeks.

Access to the Course
Teaching and learning methods
Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures in which the students are required to actively partake, and an exercise group.
- One two-hour lectures and one exercise group weekly for 12 weeks.
- One "Preparation packages" per week for self-study
Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
Students must attend at least 75 % of the lectures in Bergen.
Every week, students must do one task based on the content in the "preparation packages." Eight of these tasks must be approved to sit for the exam.
All assignments must be approved in the same semester before admission to the course exam is granted.
Mandatory assignments are valid for one semester following the semester of instruction.
