Project description

Advances in marine robotics and remote sensing, originally intended for the oil and gas industry, provide new ways to image the seafloor and provide marine geologic insights. The objective of this PhD project is to use synthetic aperture sonar, water column acoustic imaging, and near-seafloor magnetics to image and derive geologic insight from active tectonic zones. Remote sensing systems used in this project are ship based, and deployed on remote and autonomous robotic platforms.
