Deciphering the metamorphic framework of ophiolite alteration and devolatilization at Linnajarvi, N-Norway

Project description

My master project will constrain the pressure-temperature (PT) conditions during hydrothermal alteration of fragments of oceanic lithosphere at Linnajarvi in Northern Norway. The ophiolitic fragments are surrounded by metasediments of the regional Köli Nappe, which is a part of the Upper Allochthon of the Caledonian tectonostratigrpahy. PT conditions will be constrained by thermobarometry of metasediment samples collected in the direct vicinity to the ophiolite. Thus, they are interpreted to reflect the PT conditions during hydrothermal ophiolite alteration.
