Fauna of cold seeps in the Arctic

Project description 

In my master thesis, I aim to map the fauna from five cold seeps in the Arctic with varying depth and geochemical conditions. I will use classical morphological methods and DNA-barcoding to identify the fauna, and compare with closely related species at hydrothermal vents. Species lists will be analyzed together with the physical and geochemical parameters to see which factors are important in shaping cold seep communities. The project is a collaboration between the Vent & Seep Fauna project (funded by Artsdatabanken) and the AKMA project (CAGE/UiT).
