Most people does not know much about the pancreas, but it is central for the function of the digestive system and play a critical role in controlling blood sugar levels. Diabetes is the most common disease associated with the pancreas, but the organ may also be affected by inflammation and cancer. Now, researchers from Bergen have led an international search for hereditary explanations for pancreatitis.
