This work revealing new disease mechanisms by lipodystrophy, is the result of an international collaboration that has been led by researchers at the Clinical Institute 2 and Clinical Institute 1 The work includes clinical studies, genome-wide association studies, eksomsekvensering, cell biological analyzes of tissues from patients, studies in cellular models and bioinformatics tools. The article is an excellent example of how an intriguing clinical observation of over 20 years has been accompanied by a wide range of newer methods, both clinical and experimental, until the disease got its final clarification.
The article, first author Kishan K. Chudasama, has received wide coverage in the media and in medical journals, and is undoubtedly worthy of being honored with the designation "Publication of the Year 2013" at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
