Reading circle: Decolonize Digital Humanities
How can we decolonize the digital humanities? What would adopting a decolonial perspective mean for your research?
We’ll read the intro, chapter one and the conclusion of Roopika Risam’s New Digital Worlds : Postcolonial Digital Humanities in Theory, Praxis, and Pedagogy, which is available digitally from the library.
Risam’s key argument is that DH and archives build the digital cultural record that will be referred to in the future, and so it is important to think carefully about what is included in that record. We’ll discuss how these ideas might affect the ways we design archives, databases and other DH projects here at UiB.
