Paolo Velásquez: Does educational attainment improve attitudes towards immigrants? A longitudinal study of the role of education in Norway

Main content

Paolo Velásquez (University of Umeå) will present a paper that will be part of his PhD-thesis:

Velásquez, Paolo, and Maureen A. Eger. “Does educational attainment improve attitudes towards immigrants? A longitudinal study of the role of education in Norway” (working paper #1)

Main hypotheses: a) Does attaining more education result in less prejudiced attitudes towards immigrants? and b) Does living in an area with more educated people/increase in proportion of people with higher education result in less prejudiced attitudes towards immigrants? Other contextual factors to be taken into account will concern the state of the regional economy and the political landscape. For years the 2013-2018, we combine longitudinal individual-level data from the Norwegian Citizen Panel with regional-level from Statistics Norway and use multilevel repeated measurement models to test our hypotheses.

Lunch is served at first come, first served basis.
