The Geophysical Institute (GFI) at the University of Bergen, hosts a forum for exchange of information on research results and activities related to renewable energy and energy transition and named it the UiB Energy Lab.
The Geophysical Institute has renewable energy as a prioritized crosscutting theme in its current strategy. However there is no research group on this topic. Instead faculty and students belong to disciplinary research groups in meteorology, oceanography etc. even if their main activity may be directed towards energy. The Energy Lab is not a new research group. Participants in the Energy Lab, both from GFI and elsewhere, are expected to maintain their membership in their "home" research group, and join the Energy Lab as an additional forum.
