Wednesday June 6

At the end of Conference Day 1 all participants will be guided to the Grieghallen concert hall where we will be attending the closing performance of Bergen International Festival

The performance Life is a dream is a modern reimagining of Pedro Calderón de la Barca`s 17th century play with dancers from UK contemporary dance company Rambert, projections by the US filmmakers the Quay Brothers and music by the Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski played by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Immediately after the performance there will be a reception hosted by Bergen Municipality, in the Grieghallen foyer.

Both the performance and the reception are included in the registration fee for all conference participants and accompanying persons.

Thursday June 7

At the end of Conference Day 2 we will take you to the port of Bergen, where we will board our sailing ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl for a Fjord Cruise.

The «Statsraad Lehmkuhl» is a 3-masted steel bark, built by Johann C. Tecklenberg AG in Bremerhaven-Geestemünde in 1914 as a training ship for the German merchant marine. The ship is today Norway's largest and oldest square rigged sailing ship, and also the oldest amongst the large square rigger in the world.

The Fjord Cruise includes live music and a meal of shrimps and herring, while you enjoy the scenery of Bergen and the fjord.

This is an informal setting, please bring comfortable shoes and clothing.

Any special dietary needs specified in your conference registration have beed noticed. If any of you haven`t specified such needs yet, please send us an email

Friday June 8

For those interested in exploring Bergen after the closure of the conference on Friday, we offer two different guides walks, with appr. 2 h duration:

A) Guided walk on Bryggen and Bergen city centre.

B) Guided walk on Mount Fløien, where you will have spectacular views over Bergen and the Fjord. The walk on Mount Fløien includes a ride one-way up with the Fløien Funicular. Tickets for the funicular are included and will be organized by your guide. You will walk back to the city centre. It is possible to buy a return ticket, if you would like to spend more time on Mount Fløien on your own instead of joining the rest of the group on the walk back to the city centre. Bring comfortable shoes!

These walks will start just outside the University Aula at 14.30, when the General Assembly is closed.

If you have booked one of these guided walks, you will receive your ticket and instructions on where and how to join your walk, when you register on arrival.
