Pascal Nouvel is Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Universitety of Montpellier. At the end of March and beginning of April he will give three guest lectures at the Department of Philosophy in Bergen on Spinoza. The lectures make up a seminar titled "Renewing Spinoza's thoughts on affects in modern times", which is held in English and offered to BA and MA students in philosophy; it is, however, open to all interested parties! Litteratur: Damasio (2003) Looking for Spinoza, chap. 3 "Feelings" and chap. 4 "Ever since feelings with some remarks on literature and philosophy: Dostoevsky, Proust, Gombrowicz, Kundera".

"The relevance of Spinoza's project analysed through some major contributions about the nature of “strong feelings” (feelings associated with the use of psychotropic substances)  following the work of the chemist Alexander Shulgin".
