David Vogt: Understanding Justice Through Injustice

The talk for the department seminar in March will be given by David Vigt. Open for all!

Main content

Abstract

In this talk I will argue that we ought to understand the concept of justice via its negation, injustice. I will take as a starting point an example of a wrongdoing and argue that different retributive and corrective theories of justice rely on distinctive conceptions of what constitutes the injustice of the case. After presenting a way of analyzing theories of justice according to how they function in remedying injustice, I will go on to discuss the critical potential of this approach.
