Knut Anders Stokke

Main content

Hi!

My name is Knut Anders Stokke, I’m 26 years old and come from Os. Since last summer, I am a PhD-student at the Department of Informatics. I want to contribute to a good working and research environment at the university and I think it is important that temporary employees are allowed to influence decisions made by the university, which I’ll strive for if I get elected. I also care about university-industry cooperation especially in the current context of digitalization of the society. From several years of participating in various student groups, I have got strong organizational and leadership skills. Therefore, I stand as a candidate for the university board.

The University of Bergen is of great importance to me, which motivates me to be part of the university board. I took my bachelor's degree in computer science and my master's degree in software engineering at UiB, and I have been active in the university environment for six years. As a student, I was engaged in several student groups, including the department's committee for communication with companies. In the committee, we handled requests from companies that wanted to reach out to the students, and we arranged frequent company visits. During my engagement, events evolved from being once or twice a month with varying attendance to being arranged every week with full attendance. I have also been involved in Gnist, a student group that works with recruitment of new students. Among several initiatives, we visited high schools to advertise for our studies. Gnist also worked to help new students through their first year of study, where one of our measures was to hold exam preparation courses in the subjects that are compulsory the first year. I also have some teaching experience: I worked as a group leader in various subjects while I was studying, and last semester I lectured in a new subject (introduction to programming). From the positions and teaching, I have become acquainted with many students and staff, and I have gained a lot of useful experience that can be applied in a university board.
