Volcano named after him
Named volcano after Professor Emeritus Olav Eldholm
Old volcano at the Vøring Plateau was named Eldhø. The name was chosen to honor the extensive pioneer research that Professor Emeritus Olav Eldholm has carried out on volcanism and plate tectonics in this part of the Norwegian Sea since the 1960s.

The cruise in the Norwegian Sea is called the Mid-Norwegian Continental Margin Magmatism and was carried out by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP).
The purpose of the cruise was to understand how the great volcanic province of the Northeast Atlantic was formed, and how volcanism led to global warming 56 million years ago. Read more from geoforskning.no here.
