This week, former GEO PhD student and PostDoc, Dr. Zhiyuan (‘Keny’) Ge (now at the China University of Petroleum in Beijing), published with GEO co-authors Nemec and Gawthorpe a paper in Science Advances. Congratulations! 

The paper is based on numerical simulations of turbidity current flow paired with observations from the real rock record. It elucidates how a turbidite is actually deposited, highlighting the role of many brief episodes of non-deposition, whereas the established view is one of more continuous sediment accumulation.
