The Department of Geography offers three master's programmes taught in English.

Master's Programme in Development Geography

This is a two-year programme that results in a Master of Philosophy in Development Geography. The topics are related to issues of relevance for the study of livelihoods and environmental problems in mountain areas and other marginal areas of the Third World. The courses aim at introducing the candidates to contemporary scientific discourses on human-nature relations, and provide them with analytical skills and critical thinking.

Master's Programme in System Dynamics

This is a two-year programme that results in a Master of Philosophy in System Dynamics. The first year consists of 6 courses and the second year is dedicated to research and thesis writing. The programme is open for application for both international and national students. For some international students we offer quota scholarships.

Joint European Master's Programme in System Dynamics

The University of Bergen cooperates with the University of Radboud in the Netherlands, the University of Palermo in Italy, and the new University of Lisbon, Portugal in offering a Joint European Master's Programme in System Dynamics. This is an EU-programme and EU offers stipends to both European students and students from other parts of the world. Students visit at least three of the four universities over a two-year period. Please find more information about admission here.
