How to be sustainable at UiB

  • Lights off when leaving your workplace, and always at the end of the work day
  • Power off your computer, monitor, peripherals or other electronic equipment at the end of the work day
  • Control room temperature using the thermostat controller on the wall, not by switching on the radiator or opening the window
  • Web meetings save time and money, and UiB offers videoconferencing

  • Reduce paper use by priniting double-sided in black and white, and print less by working digitally
  • Reduce consumption of single-use items by avoiding paper cups at meetings
  • Re-use furniture and computers if possible, and contact the Facilities and Estates Department for inquiries about used office furniture
  • Recycle your waste, and ask the Facilities and Estates Department for waste sorting stations in buildings without such facilities

  • Learn about eco-labels to be able to to green purchases
  • Avoid small orders, saving unnecessay shipping and over-sized packaging

  • Eat greener food in student cafeterias
  • Travel climate friendly to/from work and during work hours
