X-ray tubes

X-ray tubes are defined as hazardous waste.

Main content

Defective X-ray tubes are not categorised as radioactive waste because one can only gain x-ray waves when connected to the electrical mains. The tubes contains metal, including beryllium which is a highly toxic alloy, hence the tubes are defined as hazardous waste.

X-ray tubes shall be secured against an unintentionally connection to the electrical mains system and therefore be declared as hazardous waste.
