Tax and emigration

Even when you are leaving Norway for good, you may have to stay in contact with the Norwegian Tax Administration for a long time.

To avoid that there is a large bill from the tax office waiting for you the next time you visit Norway, we recommend you make sure your tax assessment is done correctly. 

Having stayed in Norway for less than 6 months

When you have lived in Norway for less than 6 months before emigrating, you may want to finish your tax issues in Norway as soon as possible, and not wait for the system to send you the tax assessment the following year. Here you can read more about the system of advance assessment:

Having stayed in Norway longer than 6 months

There is some differences in the system if you have stayed longer or shorter than 10 years in Norway before you move.
