Faculty of Law

Master's programme in Law

The faculty offers a Master's programme in Law. It requires five years of fulltime study and is mainly taught in Norwegian.

Main content

The first four years consist of different mandatory courses, with an award-winning teaching system based on traditional lectures, cooperation and discussion within smaller groups of students.

There is an emphasis on each student writing legal analyses almost every week with comments from other students and the academic staff of the faculty.

Each course is followed by a final written examination.

The fifth year of study consists of several optional courses and the writing of a master's thesis, allowing each student to specialise within their preferred fields of law.

Admission to the Master's programme is restricted. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification in Norway and fulfil the language requirements in Norwegian and English.
