MedViz is a research tool within advanced image analysis and visualization.

Research cluster

MedViz is a Research & Development cooperation between Haukeland University Hospital, Christian Michelsen Research and the University of Bergen. MedViz is a cluster of groups performing interdisciplinary research in advanced image analysis and visualisation bridging the gap between “bench and bedside”. MedViz also includes imaging physics and fundamental biomedical translational research.

Improving diagnosis and treatment

The mission is to promote the development of biomedical and clinical imaging technologies with the ultimate goal of improving diagnosis and treatment of patients. MedViz wants to develop new clinical methods for potential commercialisation by means of denovo software for analysis, decision support and visual communication.

Interdisciplinary collaboration

The cooperation includes many research groups within the UiB: Mathematics, Informatics, Physics and Technology, Biomedicine, Medicine, Surgical Sciences and MIC. The hospital contributes through many of their departments, and CMR is well known for their state-of-the-art solutions within advanced visualization. Important for MedViz are also companies like Nordic Neuro Lab and GE Vingmed AS. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination of resources the ambition is to bring Bergen's research in medical image analysis and visualization to a top international level.
