Competing with 11 other contributions from earth science communities all over Norway, the article by the K.G. Jebsen students ultimately made it to the top of the podium. The contribution was nominated by the readers of geoforskning.no and the final decision was made by an expert panel. The panel gave the following reasons for their choice of winner:

Stubseid and Bjerga have delivered a vivid contribution with interesting facts that may not be known to the general public. The topic is highly relevant as it is linked to mineral exploration on the seafloor, an activity that has received increasing interest over the last few years. The students show a remarkable presence and their article is fun and exciting. The text provides a good description of the research activities and raises awareness of geological processes in the deep ocean. Håvard H. Stubseid and Anders Bjerga are worthy winners of the outreach contest.

We proudly congratulate our PhD students on their accomplishment!
