Project description

When mine tailing is deposited in fjords, the chemical and biological processes at the seafloor change, and this in turn can affect the marine environment. To evaluate the effect tailing deposits have on the marine environment, it is important to gain more knowledge about the conditions in the fjords before deposition. This project is part of a larger project, which investigates marine geological and geochemical processes in the two fjords. This study focuses on biogeochemical processes in sediments by conducting geochemical and microbiological research.
