Project description
The project is to determine the minerals characteristics of geochemical data of 4 different sources of sulfides on Bømlo and Stord in Western Norway. These are hosted in rocks related to ophiolite complexes and island arc magmatism from the upper allochthon in the Calendonian sheet series, emplaced when Laurentia (North America) and Baltica (Northern Europe) collided approximately 390 - 490 million years ago. The mineralizations will be compared through different analyses defining both host rocks and mineralizations. This will include SEM-EDS, LA-ICP-MS, Raman spectroscopy and sulfur isotope analyses among others.
